Tributes and Recollections

New Zealand Film Services was New Zealands leading independent film distributor for many years. One of its mainstays was Russell Rankin, who died in 1966. John O'Shea, the first editor of the Wellington Film Society's monthly magazine, and later the driving force at the independent production company Pacific Fims, wrote this trubute: D Russell Rankin: An Appreciation for Sequence.

The Roxy Theatre in Manners Street, very close to the intersection with Willis Street and site of the present Duke's Arcade, closed late in 1973. A past editor of Sequence, Denny Garrett, contributed this tribute. WeWereJustWildAboutHarry recalls the man and the Wellington Film Society connection.

Mrs Doreen Doogue had been a member of the Wellington Film Society since 1946. Because of her support of the Society over the years the committee, at the beginning of 1984, offered her a life membership and suggested that she write some recollections for Sequence. ReminiscencesOfAnOldFilmFan covers her early life in Australia and the South Island and her time in Wellington and her appreciation of the Wellington Film Society.
